The following brag tags were earned for participating in our book battles!

Every participant got the “I Battled!” brag tag.

The top student from each VES book battle got the Super Reader shield brag tag.

The students who placed 2nd through 4th in each student VES book battle got the Super Reader shield brag tag.

The top 4 of the “top 4 (or 12) vs. staff” battles got the Super Reader circle brag tag.

Each girl received a certificate for going above and beyond this year. Adela was the only K-2 student who qualified and placed in the 3rd-5th battles; Landry was the only student to not only score 100% on each quiz, but also in each K-2nd book battle; and Emma is the only student who read all 15 3rd-5th SSYRA books (as well as all 15 K-2nd books)!

How the Sunshine State Jr. Book Battle for the K-2 grade books works:

Any kindergartener, 1st grader, or 2nd grader who read all 15 SSYRA Jr. books and passes the quizzes with a score of 4 or higher by Wednesday, April 13th, 2022, qualified for the Spring Book Battle, which was held on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022.
Everyone who qualified for the book battle appears on this Shout-out page and received an invitation to the Spring Book Battle.
On the day of the book battle, all invited participants were called down to the media center at the time of the battle.
All participants battled in a live Kahoot consisting of 1-3 multiple-choice questions for each of the books.
The top 4 finishers from each grade level (K, 1, & 2) went on to battle staff members on Friday, April 22nd, 2022.

How the Sunshine State Book Battle for the 3rd-5th grade books works:

We have two 3rd-5th grade book battles per school year. The December Book Battle was held on Thursday, December 16th. The Spring Book Battle washeld on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022.
All grade levels are eligible, but only students who read and pass the Sunshine State quiz on the MyLearning 2021-2022 SSYRA course with a score of 8 or higher for at least FIVE of the below eight books by Wednesday, April 13th participated in the Spring Book Battle.
Everyone who qualified for a book battle appears on this Shout-out page and received an invitation to that book battle.
On the day of the book battle, all invited participants were called down to the Media Center at the time of the battle.
All participants battled in a live Kahoot consisting of 3 multiple-choice questions for each of the books (so although not all of the books were required to qualify for the book battles, those who read all of the books had the potential to get a higher score during the Kahoot.)
On Friday, April 22nd, 2022, the top 4 finishers from the Spring Book Battle battled each other and qualifying staff members.
